| We were comfy cozy on Pajama Day!! Friday mornings are our guest reader days. We have heard wonderful stories and look forward to hearing some more.   
Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who give up their time to read to the class. Children need to see the adults in their lives reading. We are the best role models for our children. We greatly appreciate your commitment to sharing your love of reading with us.
 Reading Workshop: Here the children are practicing the behaviors of what Reading Workshop looks like and sounds like.    
Kindergartners have a fabulous imagination. We have been tapping into our imaginations during our writing times. In fact, one of our writing prompts is "I Imagine..." Kindergartners became the authors and illustrators of our very own I Imagine book. We continued to have the children use their imaginations as we read the book Not a Box by author Antoinette Portis. We then offered up a challenge to the boys and girls. We said, "We would like to have two groups of children. Both groups have to work as a team to create a transportation vehicle. We will say go and you have to use the Imagination Playground Blue Blocks to create your vehicle that you all can fit into by the time the chime rings." We asked if they wanted to do this and we got a unanimous, YES!! The following pictures show their imaginations at work.
     Group 1 made a Rocket Ship! Group 2 made a Boat!
The groups were collaborative, cooperative, and most importantly, they had fun! Both groups completed their vehicle before the chime leaving us with co-champs for this challenge. The kindergartners were so enlivened by this exercise that we continued to spark their creative mind by giving them a second challenge. The groups had to create their opponents vehicle. The following pictures show this process in action.

The Circles and Triangles were mixed together creating Group 1 and Group 2 and again they were successful at completing the second challenge. We were proud of the groups accomplishments. As you can see from the pictures, it was smiles all around :)!
We had the Pre-K 4 snails visit the kindergarten classroom. The returning kindergartners missed their snail pets from last year. The new kindergarten students learned about snails from their classmates. We observed them in their environment. We learned their names and we even got to hold them.
     Look out Dancing with the Stars, We got Dancing with the Kindergartners!  Practicing our letters, numbers and shapes in shaving cream.  Fall art fun! We hope you enjoy our blog, Till next time... |
